Short dungarees fit for a prince/ss

I had two sources of inspiration for these short dungarees, first these Rachel Riley overalls as worn by Prince George (though I promise I’m not actually an avid follower of royal fashion) and second these Humble Hilo baby romper suits.

The pattern I drafted was intended to combine these inspirations – a little softer than the Rachel Riley overalls with a curved front bib and gathered legs (complete with popper fastenings in the gusset) and a little more formal than the Humble Hilo rompers. I used a piece of embroidery from a now worn out, but much-loved shirt that I bought in Mexico a lifetime ago for the contrast panel and covered buttons for the fastenings at the back.

I also used the pattern to make a longer-legged version in floral cotton with a bow fastening at the back.
