Waterfall Raglan with a splash of gold

dsc_8638The Waterfall Raglan is a new pattern by Chalk and Notch that I tested last month. It is a relaxed style pattern for a top or dress with different sleeve lengths and pocket options for knit fabric. I used a grey star cotton jersey bought at Fabrics Galore to make the long-sleeved top version. When I tried it on her prior to hemming I felt I need all the length so used a very small hem which combined with fabric that that wanted to curl a lot resulted in a hem that doesn’t want to stay down.dsc_8510

Everything else about the fit and style worked out well and was quick to sew.dsc_8495Just in case grey could be considered dull I made some gold leggings and headband to pair the shirt with. I don’t have a leggings pattern so just used another pair as a cutting guide.dsc_8632The gold foil fabric sewed easily using the overlocker but my machine point blank refused to sew through it so I left the ankle unhemmed.dsc_8646For a chance to win a copy of the Waterfall Raglan plus all the other patterns by Chalk and Notch, an UpCraft Club gift certificate and a $50 gift certificate for Raspberry Creek Fabrics enter via the rafflecopter below.

  1. Love this outfit. I often have that curling issue, but I found that with the 2cm hem on mine (and maybe the type of knit??), mine didn’t curl this time! And I agree with everyone above — you don’t need to bother hemming leggings. Just saves you having to let them out later when she grows taller!

    1. It was very curly fabric anyway – you know the type that’s difficult to cut because it curls so much. And my hem was deifnitely too narrow but I was trying to save length. Next time i’ll add a couple of cm’s on and put on a nice wide double hem!

  2. I love the styling of this so much! My local shop doesn’t have any gold lame but I’m going to get my hands on some 🙂 thank you for joining me and for all of your help! XO
